About
Welcome to Starflower Botanicals!
My name is Sara Brubacher, and I am a dedicated practitioner and community educator of herbalism in the Western European and North American tradition. I deeply believe in the strong but gentle power of plants. It is a joy and a privilege to bring these plants into the lives of my clients. I am passionate about empowering individuals to better understand their bodies and how herbs, general nutrition, and lifestyle changes can improve their health – body and soul.
As a Clinical Herbalist, Associate Member of the American Herbalist Guild, and graduate of the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto, Canada, I have extensively studied the properties of plants, disease pathology, and how to formulate herbal blends that match the person and their experiences. I have supervised clinical experience and work closely with my clients to understand what is going on in their life and body in order to create a customized wellness plan.
I also lead public and private workshops on healthy living, herbs, homemade herbal products, foraging, gardening, and plant identification.

Sky Chief Springs
The physical clinic is located on the historic homestead, Sky Chief Springs, outside of Cambridge, Nebraska. Named after Sky Chief of the Pawnee Nation, this was a camp ground for the Pawnee during their summer buffalo hunts. A granite memorial was dedicated to Sky Chief in 1924 that still exists beside one of the springs. This land is the traditional territory of the Pawnee and the Sioux, who were wrongfully relocated from their home and have a thriving culture today despite the serious injustices they have faced.
These natural springs have continued as a community space into the present. Early settlers camped here while they prepared their new homes and annual Catholic weddings and baptisms were held here before the construction of a local church. It has served as a filling station along the original Hwy 6, and hosted a skating and dance pavilion, Cambridge’s first golf course, ponds for fishing, a veterinary clinic, and more. Visitors to the clinic and events are welcome to walk through the prairie and enjoy the gardens.
Starflower
The name Starflower comes from the blue star-shaped flowers of a plant with whom I am deeply connected: Borago officinalis, also known as Borage. This herb is a lovely support for stress and comes with the traditional saying “Borage for Courage”. It takes courage to acknowledge your health and make changes to feel well. With the support of Borage, I am here to walk alongside you on that journey.
Borage is a common garden plant that makes a soothing addition to teas or tinctures and you can add the delicate blue flowers to your summer salads and drinks for a light cucumber taste.
The pathway to the clinic winds through gardens of native flowers, pollinator species, and medicinal herbs. Communing with these living plants is a healing experience in and of itself.
